Round trip of Gol (10 - 30 km)
| Alternative 1, Moen bridge - Gol station Ride through the town centre and follow the footpath towards highway Rv 7. Cross Rv 7, then cross Moen bridge to get to the other side of the Hallingdal river. Go left after the underpass and follow the road towards Gol railway station. A long, but not very steep, climb will take you to a scenic point with benches. The hills down to Gol Motor og Fritidssenter can be challenging, so it is best to take it slow. Follow the road from Gol Motor og Fritidsenter towards the station. Cross the river on the bridge on the left and follow Sentrumsvegen back to the town centre. Alternative 2, Rotneim/Vermefoss - Gol station Ride through the town centre and follow the footpath to Rv 7. Stay on the footpath along Rv 7 until it ends at Rotneim. Go app. 150 metres further along the highway, turn left and cross the Hallingdal river on the Vermefoss bridge. Follow the gravel road under the the railway bridge and get on the first road to the left. Make another left after app. 750 m and follow this road until you get to Gol station and onwards back to the town centre. Note: From the highest point between the Moen bridge and Gol Station there are challenging downhill paths. Alternative 3, Gol church - Tuppeskogen - Rotneim Ride through the town centre and follow the footpath along Rv 51 direction Hemsedal. Go left up towards Gol church where the footpath ends. At Gol chuch the view of the town is spectacular. Keep going until you get down to Tuppeskogen, where you can choose whether you want to continue down to the town on the footpath, or if you want to keep going to Rotneim. When you get to Rotneim you can choose again; you can follow the footpath back to Gol, or cross the river at Vermefoss and follow the footpath back to Gol station and the town centre. |
